It is incredible that the government can authorise the HS2.
The £32bn scheme is actually just the first of 3 parts enhancing the route up to Scotland. The final total could well be over £110bn pounds. Other governaments accross the globe have implemented High Speed rail links and im unaware of any that have come in under budget. You may say that Im a NIMBY, I can assure you that Im not even though the line will poass within 1500m of my home. My main issues are in a recession you clear debt as a responsible citizen and as a respomsible government you should do the same and dont spend £32bn that as a nation we dont have. Once our debt has been significantly reduced then we can look at new infrastructure.
The other problem I have is that you can travel in 1h 25m between London and Birmingham on a train, do we need to travel faster than that?
